Founded in 2011, Mana Contemporary is one of the largest and most innovative contemporary art organizations in the United States. Mana Contemporary seeks an experienced professional to join its development team as a Grant Writer. The individual selected will identify, research, and apply for funding sources to support Mana Contemporary’s planned programing including; exhibitions and special projects. This individual will also coordinate the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to third-party entities, and will also be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of projects that are funded through these sources. The individual will report to the Operations Officer.

Responsibilities

Qualified candidates should possess excellent writing and computer skills, as well as ability to manage data. The individual must be highly organize with the ability to implement systems and follow-ups, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and to use independent judgement and produce a quality of work within tight time constraints. Previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.

Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public/private grant opportunities in the areas of Arts, Culture, and Technology.

Work is performed under broad direction of the Operations Officer with the majority of the work performed independently. Some domestic travel will be required.

  • Researches and identifies new government, corporate, foundations, and private funding opportunities

  • Generates grant proposals and supporting documents (timely submission of well researched, well written, and well documented grant/fundraising proposals)

  • Maintains and implements funding calendar activities, cultivation activities

  • Writes reports to government, corporate, foundations and other funding entities

  • Serves as a liaison to all funding agencies and organizations

  • Special projects as needed

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or work in a related discipline with relevant experience. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data. Individual must also have the ability to work both collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals.
