Visual Arts Instructor in New/Emergent Media, Digital Skills, Graphic Design, Photography, Sound Design, Video along with the skills and experience to teach Contemporary Art Theory and Junior Conceptual Concerns courses for the 2018-19 school year at the high school level.

Responsibilities

Areas of teaching experience and professional expertise could include, but are not limited to: Photography (analog and digital), Digital Skills (basic computer/device skills), Graphic Design, Media Arts (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, etc.), Digital Animation, Video/Sound recording and editing, New/Emergent Media (VR, coding, game design, interactive media, etc.), 2-Dimensional Design (hand and digital), Independent Projects, Portfolio Development, Art Theory Studio Courses (Post-Modern/Contemporary Art Theory Projects) and exhibition installation. The course load is 3 courses per semester Monday – Friday. Hosting Open Studio is also required one night a week for two hours (5-7 pm). The teaching commitment extends beyond the classroom to being present on the NMSA campus and for the Visual Arts Department and NMSA community campus as needed M-F, with weekend and evening events additionally required with notice. Requirements
  • Maintain professional and supportive relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community

  • 1-3 years teaching experience at the high school and college level in the arts

  • Ability to teach the course content listed with technical skills to operate and teach the Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom, Premiere, After Effects, and Illustrator)

  • Ability to teach New Emergent Media: Virtual Reality, Game Design, Interactive Technologies, and other Electronic Arts as desired

  • Professional record of engagement in the studio arts/studio practice

  • A satisfactory fingerprint-based background check is required prior to employment

  • BFA in Studio Art required (Art History minor a plus), MFA in Studio Art highly preferred.
