We are hiring a highly skilled Preparator for a New York City art gallery with offices in Europe and Latin America. It is a full time position from Monday - Friday, 10am - 6pm. The position includes full medical, vision, and dental benefits and paid time off. During installations, openings, and art fairs we may expect you to work late nights and weekends. Salary will be based on experience.

We are seeking a highly motivated self starter to organize and execute exhibition and art fair installations, handle shipping and inventory storage. As we are a small team, we value an individual for this position able to work independently in a fast paced environment where adaptability is key.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the planning, installation, and execution of exhibitions, including install works, exhibition checklist management, condition reports, and all install needs.

  • Art Fair logistics, shipping, installation, etc.

  • Organization of the storage closet, art closet, and tools. It is important that you are able to keep artwork organized and the tool closet fully stocked at all times.

  • Registrar work. Updating database entries, keeping precise records of location and art movement.

  • Obtaining shipping costs/estimates for all sold work, liaising with clients for delivery of artworks. Coordinate and provide administrative support for domestic and international exhibitions, including transport and customs requirements

  • Managing of internal as well as off-site storage spaces

Requirements
  • Strong art handling and installation experience (exhibitions, art fairs, and in private homes)

  • Highly organized and able to think logically and quickly

  • Positive attitude and a team player

  • Able to receive feedback

  • Strong reading and writing skills

  • Knowledge of more than one language is a plus but not necessary (Fluency in Spanish and or Portuguese is preferred)

  • Passionate about art
