Baldwin FA&R is seeking an experienced Fine Art Handler to join its team for a Part Time position, with potential for Full Time incorporation. The ideal candidate will have experience handling 2D & 3D fine artworks of all dimensions, in many varying situations. Candidates with crew management and driving experience will have special attention.
Perform a variety of skilled duties in the preparation, fabrication, installation, disassembly, packing and crating of artwork.
Professional written and verbal communication skills with both clients and office staff.
Knowledge and use of appropriate materials, equipment, and methods to handle, store, pack, and transport artwork.
Works under the supervision of the Head Art Tech to expertly handle, package, install and transport high value artworks for clients, in accordance with museum standards.
Assists with daily work orders in house, for professional handling and storage
BA in Visual Arts, Humanities, Art History or equivalent preferred
Minimum 1 year of experience in a museum, gallery or art services organization / institution; demonstrated expertise in art handling techniques and practices
Knowledge of softpacking, use of basic hand tools, screwdrivers, etc
Concern for detail, accuracy and precise execution of work; ability to quickly problem solve, and follow schedules.
Works well independently and in a team; excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
Willingness to deliver and install artwork on a moment’s notice.
Experience operating warehouse equipment a plus.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and safely transport artwork, climb & work on ladders, scaffolding, etc.
Valid License required; experience with a 26’ box truck preferred; Medical Exam Card preferred
