ESSEX STREET is looking for a full-time Director to start immediately.

ESSEX STREET is a mid-sized political and conceptual art gallery in the Lower East Side.

Responsibilities

Primary job responsibilities include:

Curate gallery exhibitions, including developing proposals, securing participation, and overseeing installation design.
Conduct sales with clients, including individuals and institutions.
Create exhibition materials, including press releases and previews.
Engage with visitors and clients by providing exhibition tours.
Manage events such as openings and private dinners.
Support the Director and other staff to facilitate these duties.
Maintain proper database management, in accordance with these duties.
Liaison with artists, clients, galleries, and institutions to facilitate these duties.

Requirements

Qualifications include:

M.A. or M.F.A preferred, B.A. or B.F.A. required.
At least three - five years of sales and curatorial experience in a gallery setting is a must.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ArtBase or similar digital art database, and Adobe Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interest in and knowledge of contemporary art.
Availability to work Wednesday through Sunday from 10AM-6PM, with flexibility.
