The diverse and growing City of Longmont, Colorado, is seeking a full-time Art in Public Places Administrator to spearhead the dynamic activities of the public art program. Must be enthusiastic with a strong sense of community collaboration.

Responsibilities

Under the administration of the Longmont Museum, this position works closely with the Art in Public Places Commission to establish priorities for the program, leading the research, selection, installation, publicity, maintenance and inventory of the City’s collection, as well as art-on-loan programs. We need an energetic organizer with a passion for working with artists and improving the quality of life in their community by promoting diverse artistic and cultural assets.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced project/program coordinator who is considerably knowledgeable about contemporary art, familiar with the theory, principles, practices and procedures of art programs. Creative problem solving and resourceful decision making skills are important. Candidate will have knowledge of art production and techniques; experience with installing large sculptures, as well as two-dimensional artwork; ability to work independently and with team members; exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage projects at different phases of implementation, prioritizing work in order to meet critical deadlines; and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels within and outside the City.

Applicants are required to have any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, art administration, art history, architecture, or a related field and at least three years’ experience in art education or arts administration. Experience in the administration of public art projects and/or programs preferred. Experience in public speaking and working with public boards and commissions desired. Bilingual Spanish skills preferred.

Hiring Range: $4,455 - $4,950/month
