Judd Foundation maintains and preserves Donald Judd’s permanently installed living and working spaces, libraries, and archives in New York and Marfa, Texas. The Foundation promotes a wider understanding of Judd’s artistic legacy by providing access to these spaces and resources and by developing scholarly and educational programs.

Position Summary

Judd Foundation seeks a Communications Manager to oversee the administration and distribution of communications across various platforms. The Communications Manager will be responsible for the creation and management of all content related to the Foundation’s activities. Reporting to the Director of Communications and collaborating with the New York and Marfa offices, the Communications Manager will work to broaden the audiences of the Foundation while maintaining the mission of the organization and the legacy of Donald Judd. The position is based at the New York office of the Foundation at 101 Spring Street in New York City.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week with competitive benefits including full individual healthcare. The annual salary range for the position is $60,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

Public Relations

  • Develop and implement communications plan related to all activities and programs in partnership with Director of Communications

  • Draft press releases for public programs and exhibitions

  • Archive press clippings along with quarterly reports of editorial content

  • Assist with press and fundraising events including photo shoots and occasional evening events

Social Media & Marketing

  • Create and manage a content calendar across social media support of organizational initiatives including exhibitions, publications, furniture programs as well as third-party partnerships including gallery and museum exhibitions worldwide

  • Maintain email content calendar in partnership with Communications, Development, Research, and Visitor Services departments

  • Create text and visual content for email campaigns including but not limited to exhibition and program announcements, fundraising efforts, and research initiatives

  • Prepare annual advertising calendar for regional publications for events in New York and Texas, working directly with Visitor Service departments

  • Identify, track, and report metrics on social media and email campaigns

Rights & Reproductions

  • Serve as point of contact for rights and licensing agency

  • Review and process third-party requests including image and text permissions for museum and gallery exhibitions, academic journals, and specialized editorial requests

  • Maintain and acquire newly published content for the Foundation archives

Website

  • Manage development and implementation of content and resources on Foundation websites, including juddfoundation.org

  • Execute content updates across all departments with web developer

  • Manage project budgets for content development

  • Track and report monthly user metrics

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art History, Communications or a related field or equivalent certification or knowledge required

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in communications at a comparable arts organization, museum, artist foundation, or gallery

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Experience in managing institutional social media accounts

  • Experience with Mailchimp, Wordpress, and Adobe Creative Suite required

  • Ability to gather and synthesize information work across organizational departments

  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and manage content calendars
