Founded in 1999 by legendary American singer and painter, Tony Bennett, and his wife, Susan Benedetto, a former public-school teacher, Exploring the Arts (ETA) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in New York City. Tony and Susan founded the exemplary public arts high school, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts (FSSA), located in Tony’s hometown of Astoria, Queens.
In 2009, ETA expanded its mission to transform the lives of young people by working collaboratively with public high schools to help them build sustainable, high-quality arts programs with strategic planning and funding support. ETA successfully launched a west-coast office in Los Angeles in 2012, currently supporting arts programs at 14 public middle and high schools.
This work includes the highly valued Arts Internship Program where students work directly with Los Angeles art organizations and cultural institutions, as well as teacher grant opportunities. ETA partners with public high schools that serve high need student populations with limited access to arts education and will work with 32 Partner Schools in NYC and 14 in Los Angeles in the 2019-20 school year.

PROGRAMS MANAGER will be responsible for the daily administration of the following ETA LA programs:
LA Arts Internship Program: (two-year cohorts) for ETA’s 13 partner high schools in Los Angeles. Duties include:
Manage the online application process, promoting program opportunities, providing guidance to school staff regarding ETA opportunities, helping troubleshoot problems/obstacles with schools and ETA leadership collaboratively and respectfully.
Conduct both one-on-one and group support meetings with student participants in the Arts Internship Program, and providing guidance and support to partnering arts organizations that work with ETA program participants;
Review applications for student programs and making selections for internship placements.
Develop new arts partner relationships with arts organizations and businesses in the Los Angeles area for the program.
Helping implement evaluation tools and generally assist Director of Programs on programs assessment;
Manage student programs data in Salesforce, ETA’s cloud-based database system and develop the annual program data report for Los Angeles program;
Attending site visits at our art partners sites where students work that may take place during the evening or on weekends; and
Participate in staff-wide strategy discussions on all student programs and identifying opportunities for continued programmatic improvements.
LA Arts Access Grant
Manage on-line application for annual grant to one teacher team (2 teachers) in LA County for a $5,000 grant to collaboratively create a new (or continuing) arts learning opportunity for students at our alumni schools.
Promote the opportunity at our school sites and provide feedback to interested teachers.
Manage AAG budget, data-base and reports.
Arts Access grant site visits as needed.
LA Network: Develop and assist in opportunities for students, teachers and arts partners to gather, network and share best practices. Assisting the development of online platforms to engage shareholders.
Additional duties include:
Assist with the collection of Information and documentation related to student programs to support ETA social media efforts.
Develop LA storytelling opportunities for the ETA newsletter. Create opportunities to tell the ETA LA story; write opinion pieces, produce video or assisting with scholarly editing or proofreading, create marketing materials.
Support NYC office with website updates, and other online platform updates.
As needed administrative support.
Some special events planning support.
Undergraduate degree required.
3-5 years of prior professional experience in the field of arts education, teaching and/or nonprofit programs administration or advanced degree in related field.
3-5 years of prior professional experience working with teens, art partners or educators or advanced degree in related field.
Some experience in event production or event management.
Superb oral and written communications skills.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with utmost attention to detail.
Demonstrated effectiveness at working with educators and cultural institution leaders and managers.
Ease at managing competing demands and determining priorities.
Fluent in Microsoft Word & Excel; familiarity with Form Assembly and/or Salesforce a plus but not required.
Must have a valid California state driver’s license and car as this opportunity requires travel(mileage will be reimbursed.)
Willingness to work some weekends based on programmatic schedules.
