SUMMARY: Responsible for evaluating European works of art, answering inquiries, securing consignments, assisting with cataloging, authenticating, writing condition reports and essays. The preferred location for this role is at Dallas’ headquarters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate European works of art and establish auction estimates
Answer client inquiries (sellers and buyers)
Acquire and sign consignments
Assist with authentication, cataloging, essays, and condition reporting
Assist with catalog creation – layout, essays, advertising material, etc.
Market lots in auctions to various clients
Participate in the expansion of client database
Assist at previews and actively participate in auctions
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
5+ years of experience as a commercial dealer and/or in a major auction house working environment with a focus on European Art
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically Word and Excel
Ability to multitask and pay great attention to detail
Must have a positive attitude with exceptional customer service skills
Public speaking talents are a plus!
