Atlanta Celebrates Photography

The Executive Director is responsible for driving sustainable growth for the organization to attain its mission and deliver on its strategic plan. This includes oversight of administration (staff and facilities), programs, finances, development (fundraising), marketing, and cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders. This full-time, permanent position is for immediate hire and reports to the Board of Directors, as represented by the Board President and Executive Committee.

Responsibilities

Leadership I Communications

  • Oversee and lead implementation of the shift from Atlanta Celebrates Photography to the Atlanta Center for Photography, in collaboration with the Board.

  • Provide thoughtful executive leadership that is timely, articulate, inclusive, transparent, and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission.

  • Inspire a business-oriented, professional, results-driven environment across the organization.

  • Manage ACP’s infrastructure, including staff, facilities, and program operations and administration, while ensuring adequate resources, compensation, and professional development for staff members.

  • Effectively represent the organization as its chief spokesperson.

  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications, from web presence to marketing and PR activities, with the goal of creating a stronger brand identity and presence.

Board I Staff I Volunteers

  • Actively engage and energize Board members, staff, volunteers, event committees, and partners.

  • Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board and the Advisory Council.

  • Encourage active Board participation with an outward-facing approach to the community to cultivate diversity and deepen inclusion and belonging.

  • Ensure appropriate recruitment, supervision, training, productivity, and acknowledgement of staff and volunteers.

Programming I Community Relations I Partnerships

  • Ensure ongoing programming excellence year-round, and regularly evaluate program success.

  • Collaborate with the appropriate committees to plan new programs, and to expand and evaluate existing programs.

  • Increase overall community awareness and participation in ACP events and activities.

  • Represent ACP at relevant meetings and conferences at the local, regional, and national levels.

Fundraising I Development

  • Provide leadership and management of fundraising strategies to ensure that ACP is financially secure, well-respected, and self-sufficient.

  • Secure excellent and timely applications for grants, sponsorships, and support within individual, foundation, government and corporate sectors.

Fiscal and Data Management

  • Oversee the organization’s budget, cash management, and financial audits.

  • In collaboration with the Board President and Executive Committee, develop and monitor annual budget.

Requirements

Qualified candidates must demonstrate superior leadership skills, a diplomatic nature, a strong passion for the mission and programs of ACP and envision the future for deepening artistic culture in our communities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational credential at a minimum, but preferably a Master’s degree in arts administration, nonprofit management, business, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years of senior leadership business experience that includes developing new revenue sources, building and strengthening strategic partnerships, and demonstrating fiscal accountability.

  • Proven track record in fundraising leadership of a non-profit or arts organization, and of growing organizational capability, capacity, and programmatic impact.

Demonstrated Competencies:

  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performing teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.

  • Proven skills in leading an organization through change.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator across all types of audiences and media.

  • Excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and resourceful.
