Ota House is looking for a full-time finishing carpenter to join our team. For over forty years we have been creating some of the most bad-ass picture frames for private collectors, art galleries and museums. We design and build each frame in house and are dedicated to our attention to detail and craftsmanship. If you enjoy building and creating and take pride in what you do - please read on.


This is a full time (40+ hours/week Monday-Friday) management position for the wood shop. In addition to chopping and joining of frames, you will also be responsible for managing two other employees through the process of sanding and finishing/staining/sealing. You will also be the interface between the wood shop and office for scheduling production and determining deadlines.

  • This position involves the production and fabrication of our frames which are chopped and joined by hand with finishing nails.

  • This position demands attention to detail and knowledge of both power and hand tools including various saws, planer/jointer, etc.

  • We can offer training on the specifics of joining frames but you should already have significant previous experience and a solid understanding of finishing carpentry.


Starting compensation is determined by previous experience and competence level. Benefits will be discussed in person.

This position requires the following:

  • Minimum one-year relevant work experience in finishing carpentry

  • Management skills to meet deadlines and delegate tasks

  • Organizational skills and the ability to maintain a clean workspace

  • Willingness and ability to lift at least 75 lbs

  • Ability to make a long-term commitment.

Please note we are located in Marina Del Rey at Washington and Lincoln and our shop hours are 7am-3pm.
