David Castillo

David Castillo is hiring a Gallery Assistant responsible for maintaining the gallery’s online presence through regular updates of the David Castillo website, social media, gallery newsletter, and other relevant platforms. Experience with graphic and web design is preferred. Other responsibilities include maintaining the gallery’s press archives. The Gallery Assistant will also provide general support to the Director and will assist with other tasks as assigned.

David Castillo is a preeminent gallery in the United States in the identification, development and presentation of ground-breaking artists of color, women and queer artists. The gallery was established in 2005 under sole ownership.

David Castillo represents internationally acclaimed artists including Sanford Biggers, Kate Gilmore, Lyle Ashton Harris, Kalup Linzy, Xaviera Simmons, and Shinique Smith, among others.

Responsibilities

The Gallery Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Drafting engaging social media content about gallery news, gallery artists, and upcoming exhibitions, art fairs, and projects.

  • Maintaining a weekly social media schedule.

  • Making website updates as needed.

  • Formatting and saving gallery press for online and physical archive.

  • Drafting monthly gallery newsletters based on recent and upcoming news.

  • And other duties as needed.

Requirements

David Castillo seeks an individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and technically proficient.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in a career in the arts.

This is a permanent, part-time opportunity. The candidate must be available to work Sundays through the summer.
