Vielmetter Los Angeles is seeking a full-time Gallery Assistant. This is an entry level position, 40 hours per week (Tuesday - Saturday schedule), with additional time required for gallery openings and events.

The Gallery Assistant is the first point of contact for most gallery guests. A professional, positive, and polite approach to answering the phone, writing emails, and interacting with guests is required. This is a dynamic position with room to learn about every function of the gallery. We are seeking someone that is reliable and self-motivated, with a desire to excel in customer service while meeting an exciting array of artists and visitors.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Answer all phone calls, voice and text messages sent to gallery phone; promptly pass messages and contacts to other staff as appropriate

  • Oversee appointment booking in gallery calendar

  • Communicate gallery building and parking information to guests, delivery people and clients

  • Maintain kitchen and office tidiness with light cleaning and stocking of everyday essentials

  • Create checklists, pricelists, door signs and print QR codes and relevant reviews for each exhibition for the front desk; keep printed materials plentiful and tidy

  • Assist in updating and maintaining gallery calendars and various shared staff documents

  • Track general gallery expenditures using Expensify

  • Order all gallery office, kitchen and bathroom supplies

  • Send gifts and thank you notes

  • Coordinate and sometimes pick-up gallery lunches and catering

  • Hardcopy and digital filing

  • Maintaining the gallery’s online shop of books and catalogs; overseeing inventory, sales, and mailings of books and catalogs


Qualified candidates will have experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, administrative support, or other relevant job experience. Familiarity with Apple software and hardware, Microsoft Office, Google Mail and Google Calendar are required. Candidates with a 2-year or 4- year college degree are preferred. Individuals with a valid Driver’s License and car are strongly preferred for occasional errands.

The salary for this position is $45,000 annually. After a probationary period, all employees receive health, dental, and vision coverage, participation in the gallery 401(k) plan, as well as paid vacation days and sick days each year.
