Sargent’s Daughters Gallery seeks a high-motivated, detail-oriented, and self-starting individual to serve as a Gallery Associate at our Los Angeles location. This is a full time position.

This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfort managing a variety of tasks, working knowledge of and curiosity about contemporary art. The right candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, be highly organized, and have a collaborative spirit. This position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. The Gallery Associate will be an integral member of a small team to support the gallery’s artists and operations on all fronts.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with artists, possesses an entrepreneurial sensibility, and has the creativity to help manifest the gallery’s vision and trajectory. Prior art world experience is a must as is proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Excel, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat.


Manage all inbound and outbound art shipments

Maintaining up-to-date information about artwork locations, shipping, packing, inventory, preparing images and captions, and compiling offer PDFs, as needed

Manage input and tracking of invoices and receipts.

Maintaining contact database records with up-to-date client and artist information

Maintain spreadsheets, update artists bios/cvs

Help organize and execute gallery events, openings, and artist talks.

Prepare and update checklists and price lists for exhibitions and viewings

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the history of the gallery, its artists, and programming, and provide accurate information to gallery visitors

Keep on top of flow of exhibition and preparation and manage for installations/deinstallation

Assist in various administrative tasks such as filing expense receipts and managing gallery emails

Send daily report emails

Carry out daily opening and/or closing procedures

Maintain general tidiness of the gallery, including basic cleaning


Bachelor’s degree minimum with 2+ years of relevant experience in art industry

Extensive knowledge of and interest in modern/contemporary art

Strong organizational and management skills, and the ability to multitask

Keen attention to detail

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

Initiative to follow through with assigned & self-initiated tasks

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Passionate, Enthusiastic and proactive attitude

Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)

Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Basic knowledge of sales platforms such as Arternal, ArtBinder, and Artsy welcomed

Fluency in multiple languages welcome
