Position Available for Immediate Hire: Program Manager (Full-time)
Open House New York seeks an energetic and curious professional to serve as Program Manager. This position works with a variety of individuals and organizations to co-create and organize OHNY’s programs, including the annual Open House New York Weekend, the Urban Systems series, and other year-round activities.
This position requires 5+ years of experience in programming and/or community engagement across a range of activities, including workshops, surveys, tours, symposia, exhibitions, or other formats. The successful candidate will also bring a skill set and know how to collaborate with partners on virtual and in-person activities. The Program Manager will be an integral part of a small but growing and ambitious team. This position will best suit a detail-oriented self-starter who is able to problem-solve and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. A sense of humor and optimism alongside ideas about New York’s future will also be important for this role.
The position is an ideal platform to explore themes and issues around the civic, physical, social, cultural, economic, and environmental future of cities in general and New York in particular. This is a unique opportunity to work at a fast-paced civic non-profit committed to catalyzing access, transparency, and equity across the five boroughs.
Responsibilities
Lead organizer for the annual OHNY Weekend, the annual festival held each October that opens up hundreds of sites around New York City for broad public access. Tasks will include overseeing all aspects of the event including but not limited to:
Program development, in collaboration with partners, staff, board, and others
Primary contact for 250+ sites to define and coordinate event participation
Collect and manage data and information for partners and sites
Communications, including production of web and print collateral
Play a leading role in conceptualizing and implementing a combination of in-person and virtual public programs that investigate the places, people, projects, systems and ideas that define New York and its future
Collaborate on new methods for expanding and diversifying OHNY’s audiences and co-creating programs in and with communities of color
Author or co-author content for website, program materials, social media, and other communications platforms
Requirements
Experience and Qualifications
5+ years of experience in programming and/or community outreach
Must bring a commitment to racial equity and the principles of diversity, openness, and access
Demonstrated knowledge of urban planning, urban studies, community development, or related field
Track record of successfully managing public-facing programs from concept through completion
Must be both a strategic thinker and detail oriented
Ability to manage multiple projects at once and work independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including: community partners, civic leaders, board members, and/or volunteers
Fluency with Microsoft Office, Adobe CreativeSuite (InDesign, Photoshop), database software (Airtable, Salesforce or comparable), Wordpress, and team software (Asana, Slack, etc.)
Familiarity with online video conferencing platforms including Zoom, etc.

Open House New York staff will work remotely for the remainder of 2021, and then transition to the OHNY office in 2022, provided it is safe to do so.
Salary is commensurate with experience, in the range of $70,000—$75,000. Full benefits provided, including health insurance and retirement contribution. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
