OCHI, Los Angeles seeks a motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, and personable Gallery Registrar to join our growing team. The Gallery Registrar will oversee all aspects of inventory management along with some art handling, packing, and moving. This position is part time with the possibility of moving to full time.
Maintain the digital inventory management systems as well as the gallery’s physical inventory.
Oversee and execute the transportation, receipt, labeling, documentation, location tagging, condition reporting, packing, and safe storage of works as they enter and exit the gallery.
Develop and implement best practices, workflows, and policies related to registration tasks that work within the gallery’s existing systems.
Coordinate all aspects of local transport, domestic and international shipping as well as client installations as needed. This includes corresponding with shippers, artists, and clients to gather estimates, document the arrival of artworks, and filing all related paperwork.
Work with relevant institutions, artists, and gallery colleagues to generate consignment and loan agreements, filing all related paperwork and following up with all parties once an exhibition ends and maintaining onsite and offsite exhibitions calendars.
Handle artworks where appropriate and safe for one person, which includes packing small to medium works for shipments and re-packaging or un-packaging works in storage.
Maintain and organize the gallery office, viewing room, and storage area..
Participate in gallery installations, openings, and other events as needed, which may take place on weekends or fall outside of normal gallery hours, and may include travel.
Develop and maintain relationships with all gallery staff, art handlers, installers, shippers, customs brokers, vendors, and select clients to coordinate activities.

Knowledge and interest in contemporary art and/or art history required.
Previous registration and art handling experience required.
Familiarity with photographing works, Photoshop, Microsoft Suite, Google Workplace, and ArtLogic a plus.
Candidate needs to be physically able to handle artworks and lift up to 50 lbs.
