ICA SF seeks a Gallery Attendant to join our team. Applicants must be available to work on Saturday and Sunday; occasionally, weekday shifts may be available, as well as extended hours for special events. The Weekend Gallery Attendant position requires a welcoming demeanor, attention to detail, and finesse when balancing guest needs and general museum policies. You will work closely with the Programs Manager + Curatorial Associate, Director of Learning + Partnerships, and other Front of House staff members to maintain a welcoming and streamlined museum experience.
Proactively greet visitors upon entry, monitor the galleries to guarantee the safety and security of the visitors and artwork
Provide visitors with a positive museum experience by answering questions about exhibitions, the museum, events, and membership opportunities
Ensure patron safety by administering emergency procedures when necessary; assist with emergency response situations according to museum policies
Promptly report violations of museum policies, accident reports, and hazardous conditions to the supervisor
Assist with opening and closing of ICA SF galleries including daily inspection of art and facilities, the monitoring of gallery electronics/interactive materials, maintaining supplies in the reception area; promptly reports concerns to supervisor
Assist with sales and restocking of ICA SF merch and memberships on an as-needed basis
Assist with set-up and breaking down event equipment, including but not limited to AV equipment, chairs, tables, etc, and other general facilities responsibilities
Assist in additional program support and crowd management during events, programs, and group tours
Assist with gallery and visitor evaluations as requested
Attend security and emergency procedure training as necessary
Other Duties as assigned
Possess excellent speaking, and interpersonal communication skills with people of all ages and backgrounds
Willingness to learn museum policies and calmly respond to emergency procedures
