The Corita seeks a part-time Gallery Assistant to support the work of its administrative team. The Gallery Assistant will provide administrative support for all department activities, including guest services, retail, exhibitions, and donor cultivation. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for greeting our visitors and clients, answering in-person inquiries and calls, overseeing the general email and providing key administrative sale support to our team, as well as participating in our special events. You pride yourself in being highly organized, personable and enjoy engaging with the public.
Act as the first point of contact for gallery visitors and vendors.
Duties include drafting correspondence, overseeing mailings, maintaining contact lists, entering data into our collection management database, maintaining electronic and manual filing systems, and updating object records and files.
Assist visiting scholars and respond to inquiries from the public.
Maintain online gift shop and fulfillment of product mailings.
Answer and field telephone calls and emails efficiently and confidently.
Assist The Corita staff as needed with day-to-day tasks and errands.
Maintain and organize office supplies, equipment and filing system.
Assist with the ongoing organization and daily tidying up of the office facility.
Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years related work experience in a related role, internship or entry-level position in a gallery, auction house, or art advisory firm is required
Strong administrative skills including answering phones, managing email correspondence, responding to public inquiries, and working directly with staff and clients
Maintain poise and professionalism under pressure and effectively communicate with a diverse range of people
Possess a friendly and positive demeanor and genuinely enjoy interacting with the public and staff
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft/Outlook and database programs (Filemaker experience an advantage)
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
Dependability and reliability
Registrar and art handling experience a plus
Time management skills, can easily pivot, multi-task and prioritize

- Successful completion of a background investigation (including a criminal history check)
Details:
The Assistant will work two days per week and will report to the Director.
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate.
