The Armory Show, taking place March 7-10, 2019 on Piers 92 & 94 in New York City, is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated candidate for a full-time, temporary position during the months leading up to the fair. Applicants must be responsible, detail-oriented, work independently, have good communication skills and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
The Communications Assistant will work closely with the Director of Communications on all aspects of media relations in the lead up and during the fair. Applicants must have working knowledge of the art world and be familiar with relevant media outlets. This role would offer unique exposure into the contemporary art world while providing valuable knowledge on the inner workings of a prominent international art fair.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Administrative Support
Work collaboratively with outside PR support as well as internal team
Manage the press inbox and responding to media queries
Manage, update, and distribute press materials
Review and process media for accreditation
Manage social media accounts and monitor activity
Assist department director in preparing press releases and announcements
Copy edit outgoing communications
Maintain press database and update contacts
Liaise with galleries for press materials and media requests
Be a collaborative, energized, and enthusiastic team member
On-site Support
Maintain a professional and organized demeanor at the press check-in desk
Liaise directly with press to check-in, answer questions, and offer assistance
Process on-site requests such as: Wi-Fi information, press packs, access to image galleries, and press accreditation
