The Orlando Museum of Art seeks an accomplished professional to serve as the Finance Director. The position oversees the finances and human resources of the Museum and will work to strengthen the Museum’s business and financial position. Reporting to the Museum’s Director & CEO, the Finance Director is a key member of the management team and works closely with the Director as a partner as well as with all Department Heads and members of the Board of Trustees to develop and implement budget strategies. The Finance Director is also responsible for ensuring the Museum’s compliance with government and legal regulations. The successful candidate will have excellent management, organizational and communication skills. Non-profit cultural or organizational experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Excellent supervisory, planning and analytical skills, including Spreadsheet, Excel, Financial Edge, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Raisers Edge a plus.

Participates in long-term strategic financial planning. Monitors and makes regularly reports.

Produces monthly budget reports for senior management team.

Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and presents these to Finance, Investment and Audit Committees as applicable.

Conducts operational cash flow reviews and financial projections.

Oversees accounting procedures to ensure GAAP and other regulatory compliance.

Supervises annual audit and tax filing.

Provides meaningful and timely information.

Ensures that key transaction systems are efficiently implemented and that staff managing these systems are proficient in their use.

Monitors and analyzes retail operations and other earned income streams, provides support to staff to increase efficiency and effectiveness of earned income.

Oversees human resource programs, staff policies, staff benefit programs, and employee insurance coverages.

Reviews contracts and manages legal affairs. Works on legal contracts and disputes when applicable.

Manages the Museum’s insurance needs.

Maintain contacts with peers in the field to keep abreast of best practices and current issues.

Requirements

Academic and Business Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required. CPA certification a plus. Non-profit experience a plus. Experience with human resources preferable.

Temperament:

Mature, calm and patient with the ability to work well under pressure. Relates well with people of diverse socio-economic backgrounds in a museum business atmosphere. Projects a pleasant personality with confidence and efficiency while dealing with people in person or on the phone. Well organized with ability to set aside priorities and execute tasks in a timely manner. Detail oriented, accurate and a self-starter. Professional demeanor and appearance.

A background check and drug test are required.
