The Tate Creative Studio manages the design, print and digital production for all four Tate galleries and subsidiary companies. You’ll be part of a small, friendly team working on a variety of exciting design projects

You will have good knowledge of design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign gained from working in a similar creative environment. With good knowledge of repro, print and production processes you will be able to interpret design briefs creatively and within brand guidelines.

You will be a positive team player with strong organisational skills and the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, working to tight deadlines in a high pressure environment. In addition, you will be a creative thinker with strong typographic skills and good attention to detail.

As part of this team you will play an active role with supporting Tate’s diversity objectives in order to create a positive and inclusive working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Produce print-ready artwork working from developed creative concepts using InDesign and other design software.

  • Create artwork from new briefs or update artwork for repeating projects set to a template.

  • Assist in developing creative campaigns and exhibition identities across all Tate galleries.

  • Present creative concepts to internal clients, comfortably communicating your ideas.

  • Implement design for bi-monthly Tate Guide into existing template and ensuring publication is artworked and print-ready.

  • Creating PDFs for circulation; amending artwork as necessary.

  • Pre-flight check artwork and package artwork files ready for print.

  • Work on image files, ensuring scans are set to CMYK and print-ready; using Photoshop to do repro work on the files if needed to ensure that all image files are colour correct and ready for print.

  • Support the Senior Designer and Designers in rolling out established design creatives across a range of material as required.

  • Design temporary signage requirements, exhibition wall texts and temporary displays as required.

  • Work within Tate brand guidelines and uphold brand guidelines across creative output.

  • Liaise with external suppliers (printers and contractors) to supply print-ready artwork and approve proofs alongside the design team.

  • Build strong relationships with the design team and build excellent relationships with clients from all departments across Tate.

Requirements
  • Relevant graphic design experience within a creative environment.

  • Good knowledge of design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (CS6 or CC) in particular InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. MS Office knowledge also required.

  • Demonstration of strong creative ideas, typographic skills with good attention to detail.

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, working to tight deadlines in a high pressure environment,

  • Ability to contribute positively in a team environment and work successfully on own initiative

  • Work collobaratively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to interpret design briefs creatively, within brand guidelines.

  • Good knowledge of repro, print and production processes with experience of artworking files for print.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A commitment to take an active role in supporting Tate’s diversity objectives and creating a positive and inclusive working environment.
