Reporting to the Associate Director, Major Gifts and Capital Campaign, the Development Associate is part of the Individual Giving team and provides essential assistance for 92Y’s major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaign activities. The Associate plays a key role in improving the various day-to-day systems that support the department in achieving the required contributed revenue financial targets. The Associate’s time will be split between major gifts/capital campaign-related work and planned giving-related duties.

Responsibilities

Major Gifts, Special Projects and Capital Campaign

Support the Associate Director of Major Gifts and Capital Campaign and the Development Officer, Planned Giving and Special Projects in implementing tailored strategies for select 92Y program areas, including tracking activities of volunteers and committees and assisting with special programmatic appeals.

Assist with select activities connected to the Time to Build Capital Campaign such as: database management, prospect research, maintaining campaign gift correspondence, including payment reminders, pledge agreements, and donor reports.

Provide support for the production of campaign mailings, including solicitations, renewals and special appeals.

Planned Giving

Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Legacy Society, 92Y’s planned giving society.

Support the Development Officer, Planned Giving and Special Projects with all communications including mailings, personalized strategies and cultivation/education plans for communicating with individuals about planned giving opportunities.

Provide support to the Development Officer to execute a comprehensive planned giving marketing program using multiple channels (print, direct mail, email, digital giving) to promote planned gift opportunities.

Prepare and assemble planned giving mailings and email correspondence as needed, including invitations and reports.

Assist with Legacy Society and Planned Giving events, as needed.

Individual Giving Team Administration

Manage acknowledgments for capital, special and planned gifts, ensuring relevant, timely, error-free communications that inspire donors to feel valued and loyal to the organization.

Maintain the integrity of donor records in the database and paper files.

Field calls from donors/patrons calling the main office line, providing impeccable customer service to 92Y supporters of all levels.

Conduct donor and prospect research, as needed.

Assist the Individual Giving team by providing support for special projects and events, as required.

Perform other related duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum of two years work experience, preferably at an arts or cultural organization. Previous development experience preferred.

Strong project management and administration skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Research experience a plus.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and diplomacy skills required to deal with the public, including major and high-profile donors as well as internal colleagues.

Superb organizational skills including self-management of work schedule – ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Strong writing, editing, proofreading and analytical skills.

Proven high-level of expertise in using Microsoft Office Suite accompanied by a strong eye for detail.

Must work well under pressure with the ability to organize, prioritize and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations.

Experience with research tools such as iWAVE, WealthEngine, LexisNexis, RelSci, Foundation Directory and others, and in Tessitura or other CRM database strongly preferred.
