The Pulitzer Arts Foundation is currently seeking to fill the position of Curatorial Assistant. The Curatorial Assistant is responsible for helping to advance the research, development, and execution of exhibitions, in addition to providing general support for the curatorial department. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in art history; excellent research and organizational skills; and ability to communicate effectively. This position will suit individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in the curatorial field and eager to expand their understanding of museum practices. Exhibition-related responsibilities and duties
Conducts scholarly research that facilitates exhibition planning
Creates and maintains accurate files for exhibition research and correspondence
Creates and maintains checklists for exhibitions through The Museum System (TMS)
Drafts and edits content for exhibition-related materials and publications
Assists curators as they develop the exhibition layout
Works across departments to establish agendas, deliverables, and timelines
Contributes to the growth of the department by working closely with curators to achieve department goals
Administrative responsibilities and duties
Assists with daily administrative functions, including but not limited to creating presentations and managing departmental calendars
Facilitates communication with Pulitzer staff, collaborators, and external stakeholders
Assists with the development and management of the departmental budget
Performs additional duties as requested
Bachelor’s degree in art history is required; master’s degree is a plus
Prior curatorial and/or museum experience is preferred
Strong research skills, including a familiarity with art and art historical journals, library and image databases, and interlibrary services
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and workloads accordingly
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; proficiency in The Museum System (TMS) and image editing software is preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with museum staff, collaborators, and external stakeholders in the realization of complex projects
