This position is responsible for cultivating relationships with the public, both in the Gallery and through marketing efforts, as well as day-to-day management of the Gallery’s communications, including but not limited to social media campaigns; marketing strategies that support brand management, exhibition publicity, and community engagement efforts; and outreach via newsletters and email. Tracking and evaluating the impact of these activities and demonstrating success in expanding audience size and engagement are key elements of this role.

The position requires the ability to build relationships across diverse constituencies and communities. This position reports to Wrightwood 659’s Director and works alongside other colleagues to collate information across the Gallery for optimal digital representation.

Responsibilities

Communications

  • Work collaboratively with Wrightwood 659 Director and marketing/artistic consultants to develop a comprehensive institutional and program marketing strategy.

  • Develop and implement annual marketing plan/schedule and oversee the creation and dissemination of effective messaging and communications to patrons via print, digital, advertising, and ticket sales campaigns.

  • Design and execute a digital communication strategy ensuring timely and thoughtful engagement with participants/users.

  • Ensure brand consistency for all materials and communications.

  • Ensure that all media placements, event listing deadlines, and print deadlines are met.

Online Programs Management

  • Responsible for Wrightwood 659 social media accounts including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

  • In collaboration with Exhibitions Manager, develop and disseminate email blasts and WordFly campaigns.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to facilitate the development and delivery of Gallery content to all online channels.

  • Drive traffic to the web site by ensuring content is built and tagged consistently with SEO/SEM techniques and best practices

Online Analytics Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor, track, analyze and report on online engagement metrics including website, email, and social media analytics

  • Initiate changes to online platforms as needed by applying web analytics to inform online marketing strategy

  • Liaise with Director to design and implement audience data collection methods such as audience surveys

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to Director as necessary

  • Answer phone calls professionally, direct them accordingly and/or take detailed messages as needed

  • Schedule and confirm appointments/events for the Director, including meetings, itineraries, and receptions, and organize Director’s calendar

Exhibition and Front of House Responsibilities

  • Oversee Visitor Services Associates (VSAs), including develop and implement VSA training program, coordinate VSA scheduling, edit policy manual and observation forms for VSAs (as required by exhibition), lead debrief to collect and analyze VSA feedback

  • Prepare iPads and ticketing devices to ensure they are functioning properly for guests

  • Collect and analyze audience surveys and other feedback, share results with Director, colleagues and, upon approval, choice insights with VSAs to improve their responsibilities

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in journalism, public relations, marketing, English or related field.

  • A degree in arts management is desirable but not necessary.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience required

Required Competencies

  • Acute attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

  • Creative thinking about how to improve the Gallery’s communications and outreach efforts

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to be flexible

  • Passionate about the intersections of art, activism, and architecture.

  • Comfortable communication with all people including staff members and audiences

  • Strong relationship management, organizational and project management skills

  • Knowledge of communications best practices including website development, social media, data maintenance, and email marketing

  • Fluent in social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo and Hootsuite

  • Excellent skills in Google Analytics, Wordpress, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of Adobe CS (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

  • Willingness to learn Tessitura as needed

  • Knowledge of web and other digital applications is required

  • Multilingual is a plus
