Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) seeks a Registration Fellow for January 1 - May 15, 2019. This is an opportunity to quickly familiarize yourself with the region’s artistic talent while also further developing museum registration skills. Honoraria provided.

The Registration Fellow’s responsibilities revolve primarily around the planning and managing of artwork for the 2019 WPA Auction Gala, to be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019. This position involves a significant amount of administrative work.

This is a part-time position. The Registration Fellow is required to work a minimum of 14 hours per week in the WPA office or at the Auction Gala Site.

WPA will pay a $2,500 stipend to the Coordinator in 5 installments, to occur: by January 15, February 15, March 15, April 15, and May 15. Taxes and Social Security will not be withheld from payments; the coordinator will receive a 1099 for tax purposes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist WPA staff and in planning and managing artwork solicitation, selection, registration, transportation, and installation.

  • Assist with the open call process and artwork solicitation

  • Assist in preparing submissions for art committee review

  • Support the art committee with the review process as necessary

  • Assist in preparing materials following art committee review

  • Assist with artist notifications

  • Track artist contracts and W-9 submissions

  • Assist in reviewing and editing artwork registration data and artwork bios

  • Assist in auditing artwork images to ensure publication quality; follow-up with artists for higher-resolution images as necessary

  • Assist with artwork drop-off at New York, Baltimore, and DC venues

  • Assist in the preparation of auction bid sheets

  • Help to coordinate payments to artists

  • Assist in the arrangement shipment/pick up for return of unsold artworks

  • Provide additional support as needed for the smooth execution of auction, including working the day of the event

Requirements
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign desired but not required

  • Friendly, engaging, and professional demeanor with the ability to work as part of a team is required
