Oolite Arts seeks a Director of Programming to oversee and manage the organization’s multi-faceted public, exhibition, and residency programs. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Programming and will help facilitate and build upon the current public, exhibition and residency programming at the Center. Candidates must have a proven track record and experience to help lead and oversee various public-facing programs as well as a deep knowledge of residency programs nationally and internationally. Candidates must have experience in managing staff, volunteers, as well as work collaboratively with local and national institutional partners.

The Director of Programming has primary responsibility for the execution, implementation, administration, and evaluation of all of Oolite Arts’ public and programming initiatives, including oversight of our exhibitions, special events, residency and community outreach efforts. The Director of Programming reports to the Vice President of Programming and will manage the Programs Department. The Director of Programming makes sure all Center’s programs run effectively and produces the desired outcomes of success.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule, budget, implement, manage and periodically suggest new public programs, partnerships and other initiatives for our residency program;

  • Identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with various cultural institutions across Miami-Dade County;

  • Implement metrics for success as well as surveying and receiving feedback from the community about Oolite Arts and its public facing initiatives to improve audience development;

  • Oversee the year-round programming calendar;

  • Maintain various databases of public program attendees;

  • Create mechanisms for internal and external evaluation for our on-going public program offerings as well as our residency program;

  • Work closely with the Oolite Arts’ resident artists and alumni to create new and unique public programming initiatives;

  • Compile collected information for VP of Programming to regularly present to the Oolite Arts’ Board and staff leadership.

Requirements

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and five or more years of arts administration as well as experience working in a public arts non-profit institution. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience and success implementing and executing public-facing programs

  • Effective communication, both in person and in writing (fluency in Spanish is valued but not required);

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers;

  • Ability to work and nurture emerging artists in a holistic service environment; · Success at managing a wide array of tasks and projects and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment;

  • Willingness to work select weekends and evenings; able to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job;

  • Excellent organization and planning skills;

  • Basic computer skills on a Windows system (knowledge of Adobe applications is a plus);

  • Familiarity with the international contemporary art scene (Miami art scene is a plus);

  • Passion for the Arts and how it can transform communities.
