Linked by Air is an award-winning and growing design and technology firm. We integrate strategy, user experience, interaction and visual design, and software development to create design systems and build digital products that grow with their institutions, put users first, and break new ground. Most but not all of our clients are in the cultural sector, and we are currently collaborating with The Shed, a performance and exhibition space opening soon in New York; Google; the New Museum; and the Hirshhorn Museum at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

We are looking for a full-stack web developer to join our team. The position is full-time and on-site at our office in NYC. You will be working closely with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, and talented team who are also pretty nice people. And you will be working with a range of interesting clients on projects that combine new and bespoke challenges with expansion and development of a platform that extends across our work.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Write well designed, testable, and efficient code.

  • Build front-end layouts and user interfaces.

  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases.

  • Debug and troubleshoot existing code.

  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs.

  • Work within existing platforms and frameworks at client institutions.

  • Assist with the maintenance and upgrading of our custom Ruby on Rails CMS.

  • Work independently to provide technical support and bug fixes when requested by existing clients through an issue tracking system.

  • Train clients in how to use their CMS.

  • Collaborate with designers and other team members.

  • Participate in teaching and learning/knowledge transfer among colleagues. Be interested in learning and mastering new technologies and techniques.

  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies and industry trends.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Comfortable writing HTML, JavaScript, and SASS, and doing cross-browser testing.

  • Strong attention to detail, to build front-ends that closely match design specs.

  • Experience with Drupal

  • Willing to learn Ruby on Rails

  • Familiarity with version control systems and workflows.

  • 2+ years professional experience.

  • An interest in art and design.
