The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is launching a new strategic plan that reflects Isabella’s radical experiment and our commitment to broadening audiences. The plan lays out a bold, contemporary vision for the future. Building on our recent explosive audience growth and dynamic program innovation, we are exploring ways to realize most fully the Gardner’s vast potential as a vibrant cultural resource and a catalyst for daring, meaningful, artistic experiences. The Development Assistant II is a key member of the Development team responsible for undertaking the multi-million-dollar fundraising effort that will implement the strategic plan and launch the Gardner’s exciting next chapter.
Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving and Advancement, the Development Assistant II will provide administrative support for the operations of the Development Office, focusing on the four key areas listed below.
Revenue
Provide administrative support to Corporate and University Members
Assist with board appeals and acknowledgements
Track philanthropic opportunities
Draft endowment reports
Events
- Provide night-of support at events
Governance
Lead administrative support of all committee and board meetings
Logistical planning, materials, and day-off support for Development Committee meetings
Chief External Engagement Officer and the Director’s Office
Maintain and update CEEO’s calendar
Coordinate logistics for donor meetings with Director and/or Chief External Engagement Officer
Compile and distribute materials and agendas and Development Team meetings and External Engagement meetings
Development Operations
Secure and confirm credit lines
Maintain office supplies and co-manage mail
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Interest in Development field
Strong project management skills
Exceptional attention to detail and follow through
Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and work as part of a team
Availability to work evenings and weekends when needed

Experience planning special events
Familiarity with fundraising databases
