Under the direction of the Director of Stewardship, the Development Officer is responsible for implementing and supporting a comprehensive stewardship program to acknowledge, recognize, and engage donors with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include annual reporting on named endowment funds and other donor-funded projects, maintaining fund records, researching original fund terms to be an authority on fund history and use, creating and maintaining consistent donor recognition systems, managing the Benefactor Program, and supporting stewardship events and activities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Three to five years of demonstrated experience in development, curatorial, donor relations/stewardship and/or program management

  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, organizational, and research skills

  • High degree of comfort with financial matters, particularly related to endowment performance and fund reporting

  • Art historical knowledge preferred

  • Creative and strategic thinking

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks fluidly

  • High degree of social sensibility and diplomacy

  • Poise, maturity, flexibility, initiative and ability to work both as a team player and independently manage and have self-direction on projects is essential

  • Highly creative; ability to generate new ideas

  • Strong skills in trouble-shooting and problem-solving

  • Ability to handle delicate and confidential material

  • Ability to succeed in a complex and demanding environment

  • Knowledge and comfort using various relational databases and other software applications

35 hours per week

Mon–Fri, 9 am–5 pm; some evening and weekend hours required
