The Museum of International Folk Art is seeking a registrar who can work with the Collections Department in all logistics and legal matters involved with the acquisition, lending and movement of works of art and provide for the care of the collection in compliance with professional museum standards.

Responsibilities
  • Execute incoming/outgoing loan contacts and review facilities’ reports;

  • Manage foreign and domestic loans including condition reports, packing, shipping, insurance, and import/export documents, and provide courier service when required;

  • Manage the TMS collections management database;

  • Process and complete all legal paperwork for acquisitions and update permanent collections records as required;

  • Assist curators with exhibition planning and management including tracking physical movement of objects, database object tracking, and with installation as required;

  • Coordinate permanent collection, and object loan and exhibition with curators and museum conservators;

  • Manage photographic and publication requests;

  • Monitor facility temperature/humidity and provide regular reports to museum management.

Requirements

A Masters degree plus 3 years experience in Museum Studies, Art History, Anthropology, or related field in a museum

OR

A Bachelor of Art degree plus 5 years experience in Museum Studies, Art History, Anthropology, or related field in a museum
