Development & Communications Associate
Friends of the Denver School of the Arts (DSA Friends Foundation)
The Development and Communications Associate will be a key part of DSAFF’s development and communications efforts, reporting to the Executive Director. We are looking for a highly organized, creative, responsible, and flexible individual who is excited to engage in a multi-faceted fundraising department. The ideal candidate is a team player who is: willing to support a range of fundraising initiatives and needs; driven to deliver excellence, learn, and improve; comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to balance competing priorities with strong follow-through; a believer in the power of relationship building.
The three key areas of responsibility for this position include:
Database and Administrative Support
Communications
Event Support
Database and Administrative Support duties:
Maintain and update our current donor database (Donor Perfect)
Provide updates on DSAFF’ monthly giving program with regular progress reports (financial progress and participation) and updating pledges and credit card information as needed.
Systematically track all gifts to DSAFF throughout the year and ensure donors receive prompt and meaningful recognition of gifts
Issue year-end acknowledgment letters
Assist with impact reporting to internal (Executive Director, Board of Directors) and external (Foundations, Corporate Partners, Government Partners, Donors) stakeholders
Assist in the implementation of ongoing donor stewardship plan
Support DSAFF Board Meetings through email invitations, distribution of materials, reservation of meeting space, follow-up with meeting minutes, etc.
Communications Duties:
Articulate the impact of DSA programs in various forms of written and verbal communication
Develop creative, clear, engaging, and impactful email newsletter campaigns on Constant Contact and ensure up-to-date lists
Regularly post impactful and creative content on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
Develop and maintain the DSAFF’ Photo Archive to have a selection of photos and videos that accurately capture programming at The DSAFF Social Media
Form strong working relationship with diverse staff, partners, volunteers, and community members to capture the impact of DSA through storytelling, testimonials, videos etc.
Coordinate the design and printing of all DSAFF collateral including flyers, program materials, and event posters
Maintain and update The DSAFF website
Provide support in capturing excellent local, state, and national press coverage
Event Support:
Participate in Event Planning committees and help plan, organize, and execute key fundraising events
Coordinate and interface with event volunteers
Other duties as needed
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Previous experience with communications and/or marketing, specifically with managing multiple social media accounts. Constant Contact experience is a plus.
Experience with Donor Perfect (or another donor database) is a plus
Strong written and verbal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Internet navigation tools, including ability to perform mail merge functions
Excellent organizational skills and ability to excel at details and prioritize under pressure
Highly responsible, proactive, motivated, and able to handle a full workload
Flexible and willing to approach tasks big and small with a goal of excellence
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively and respectfully work with diverse professionals and community members
Occasional need for weekend and/or evening availability
English speaker required
