The Associate Director of Learning is part of the Learning and Public Programs team and will be a leader for all school, family, and youth programs. The Associate Director acts as an ambassador for the department to various stakeholders and actively builds and fosters relationships.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with evening and weekend availability as required to fulfill responsibilities and for related museum activities. Ability to operate computers, printers, and telephones and general mobility throughout the building required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining strategies for all Learning programs.

  • Developing and strengthening partnerships with schools, creative organizations, academic institutions, artists, and leaders in the educational and museum fields.

  • Ongoing evaluation and assessment of Learning programs, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Identifying and cultivating funding sources and preparing proposals.

  • Managing the Learning program budget and leading reporting efforts.

  • Directing the recruitment, hiring, and training for a core group of artists and educators.

Requirements

Desired qualifications include a Master’s degree in Education, Museum Studies, Art History or equivalent experience and training; a minimum of five years of management and leadership in the museum or education field; and:

  • Understanding of museological and education theories and practices.

  • Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience working directly with artists, educators, curators, and programmers.

  • Expertise in curriculum development as well as conceptualizing and leading diverse forms of learning and engagement.

  • Knowledge of museum audiences, contemporary art, and visual culture.

  • Ability to synthesize and explain ideas and information clearly
