Hi-ARTS, a leading nonprofit organization within the urban arts movement, seeks a dynamic Development Manager to join its growing team. The Development Manager is responsible for raising individual and major gifts, and securing institutional support towards Hi-ARTS’ $500,000 annual operating budget. This position will be new to the organization and have exciting potential for growth.
Identifying, soliciting, and building relationships with foundations, major donors, and other fundraising sources
Participating in overall planning and execution of Hi-ARTS fundraising strategy and tactical plan
Developing fundraising and financial reports for stakeholders, including the Board of Directors
Keeping donors and key funders apprised of ongoing activities
Partnering with grant writing consultant to develop and submit proposals and reports to foundation, corporate, and government funders
Scheduling and managing donor and prospect events (3-4 per year) for cultivation and solicitation purposes with the assistance of the Executive Director, General Manager, and a select group of the Board of Directors
Generating donor acknowledgements in a timely manner
Preparing research on each major donor prospect to include giving history to Hi-ARTS and other organizations, capacity, and any Hi-ARTS linkages
Managing a comprehensive cultivation tracking system and communication calendar for all donors and prospects in the donor database
Preparing major gift proposals in response to inquiries and/or cultivation of major donors and prospects
Other duties as assigned
Must embrace the mission of Hi-ARTS
Three to five years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with an emphasis on individual giving and major gifts
Demonstrated experience in event planning and development
Previous experience working closely with a Board of Directors
Knowledge of and experience in the national performing and urban arts landscape
Ability to work in and fully leverage donor databases
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining close attention to detail in a busy environment
