The District of Columbia arts Center (DCAC) is seeking a part time Development Associate to assist the Executive Artistic Director and Board in their fundraising efforts. DCAC has been providing opportunity for artists of all types for 30 years in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC. Comprised of a 40-seat theater and two art galleries, it operates with a small part time staff and a number of volunteers. DCAC expects an average of 20 hours per week and the Development Associate would be assisted by current staff and interns to fulfill responsibilities. Salary is $25,000 annually.

Responsibilities
  • Manage systems for gift entry and donor acknowledgement, ensuring that every donor receives prompt acknowledgement for their contribution.

  • Generate contributed revenue through the solicitation of corporate, foundation, governmental, and individual prospects.

  • Serve as a key member of the fundraising events committee, working closely with staff, leadership, and board on coordination and execution of events.

  • Attend Board meetings and serve as liaison for Board members’ and donors’ inquiries.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Vibrant and mature individual with a background in, or passion for arts.

2+ years of development experience. Experience in other areas such as membership, grant writing or corporate support desirable.

Experience with Donor Snap or similar donor database.

Ability to handle sensitive information in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality.

The capacity and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with donors and other constituencies.

Evenings and weekend work periodically required.
