The DCCE Programming Assistant will support two major Free Library of Philadelphia initiatives, with approximately 75% of time allocated to One Book, One Philadelphia, a signature program that promotes literacy library usage and civic dialogue by encouraging Philadelphia to read and discuss a single book; and approximately 25% of time to Neighborhood Library Enrichment Programming, which implements adult-focused artistic, cultural, and civic engagement programs across the Free Library branch library system. This position will provide general administrative assistance and will coordinate, manage, and support One Book and Neighborhood Library Enrichment programs.
Update Free Library web calendar of events and manage program social media
Coordinate marketing and administrative details with community partners
Support production for key events at Parkway Central and in neighborhood libraries
Serve as a library representative at community events
Administer and collate surveys and other metrics for impact evaluation
Maintain and develop relationships with educators, partners, and volunteers participating in One Book and Neighborhood Library Enrichment programming
Support mass distribution of books and print materials citywide
Additional administrative and clerical duties as needed
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive is required; Basic HTML, Raiser’s Edge, and Mail Chimp are a plus
Experience managing social media for an arts or nonprofit organization
A demonstrated interest and knowledge in current literature
Ability to express oneself clearly in writing
Experience managing logistics for events and comfort working with administrative detail
Experience in community outreach and/or building relationships with partners, as well as working within diverse communities
Experience in an educational setting or leading group discussions a plus
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
Special Conditions:
This job requires occasional physical labor; applicants should be able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40 lbs
Travel within the Philadelphia area is required
Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours is required.
This Part-Time position is 30 hours/week and has a Full Benefit Package including health, dental, life, and disability insurances; flex benefits and retirement plan; holiday and annual leave.
