JOB DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Executive Director, this position oversees the planning, execution and analysis of marketing for The Joyce Theater. An Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer, The Joyce Theater is committed to an inclusive work environment.
Specific responsibilities include:
Manage staff of five full-time marketing employees, as well as the Box Office Manager and department. Work closely with Assistant Director of Context and Interpretation, Database Administrator, and Front of House department.
Oversee Joyce website along with Digital Marketing Manager.
Work closely with the Marketing Manager - Strategy and Analytics to continue to develop Joyce audiences, increase revenue, and understand patron behavior and trends.
Create, conceptualize, and implement marketing plans and strategies across digital, social media, print, and collateral platforms.
Lead all Joyce branding efforts across multiple platforms including Joyce merchandise.
Develop revenue projections; create and oversee departmental budget.
Manage ticket inventory through demand-based pricing strategies.
Oversee outreach initiatives for developing new audiences.
Oversee activities of external public relations agency to maximize Theater’s program and institutional presence.
Coordinate efforts with external advertising agency when necessary to establish creative direction for marketing campaigns across varied platforms.
Develop long-term marketing vision and strategies for individual shows and the Joyce brand as a whole.
Manage marketing relationships with external vendors including publicity firm, digital media firm, print shops, mailing houses, etc.
Work closely and in tandem with other Joyce department heads, as well as support each department with marketing guidance for their special programs.
Advise subsidized rental companies on marketing campaigns and strategies to maximize ticket revenue.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a strong leader and team player with an excellent track record of leading and supporting a marketing team.
Must be creative, strategic, and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.
Minimum 7–10 years of experience in marketing, advertising or similar field, preferably within the arts and entertainment industry.
Strong understanding and commitment to learning the ever-changing trends of technology including digital, social media, and content development.
Experience with advertising campaign execution.
Ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage budgets and expenses.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be proficient in Tessitura.
