Acquisitions Coordinator

NINE dot ARTS uses the power of original art to transform spaces into experiences. We bridge the gap between arts and business. With knowledge and experience we curate inspiring art collections that show beauty, creativity, and purpose.

The Acquisitions Coordinator role takes our art curation work and brings it to the finish line. You will be in charge of acquiring all artwork from a variety of sources, negotiating pricing, ensuring preparation, and overseeing installations on a client site. That means stellar coordination skills to get all the right pieces of information from our Curators, purchase from artists and galleries and vendors, get artwork printed and framed and prepared for shipping and hanging, work with constantly shifting deadlines to schedule professional art installers, make game-time decisions when there’s a surprise in the wall finishes, and ensure everyone’s work culminates in the installation of a world-class art program. This is a role that is high in both urgency and satisfaction.

The person in this role will be managed by the Head of Client Operations, Adele Grundies, and will work closely with our Acquisitions Manager, Lauren Donald. The Acquisitions Coordinator can work from our Denver office, or work remotely for candidates based in any of the following areas: Seattle, Southeast (Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville), Chicago, and California. Some travel is required for out-of-state installations.

The Acquisitions Coordinator must be comfortable handling a wide variety of tasks in a small business environment.

Scope of work includes ownership of art acquisition and installation for 10-15 projects at one time, both in Colorado and across the country.

  • Each project could have from one to three hundred pieces of art, from a single large mural to artwork for every guest room in a hotel

  • Each piece of art may need to pass through multiple vendors’ hands, including the artist or gallery to the framers, printers, photographer, and storage facility, to the art installer on site

  • Every purchase must be documented in our central systems, from issuing the Purchase Order to receipting a deposit, and tracked in our inventory system

Examples of relevant experience include:

  • Event planning – organizing a long list of details with moving parts and many people with their own deadlines and opinions, to culminate at an installation event over one or more days

  • Purchasing – working with artists and vendors to negotiate pricing, with great attention to detail for tracking a large quantity of unique pieces while maintaining overall project profitability goals

  • Styling – a spatial understanding to translate 2D plans into a 3D environment, with the creative confidence to both carry out the curatorial vision and make decisions on the fly

The right person will be comfortable blending close collaboration across multiple internal colleagues and external vendors with the independent initiative to anticipate issues, plan far ahead, and constantly move the project forward.

Salary: $40,000-$45,000 DOE, plus company benefits. Eligible for significant ($10k+) project profit share after one year of salaried employment.
