An established, Panamanian Art Studio seeks a permanent Manager to oversee the production of multiple large-scale artworks, to assist in the day-to-day operations, with a comprehensive knowledge of arts management relating to collections maintenance, production, documentation, and preservation.

The Studio desires a professional, highly motivated individual that demonstrates the ability to take initiative, work well both independently and in a team environment, multi-task and be flexible to meet changing priorities. Accordingly, applicants must be highly organized, reliable, and responsible with time management. Having excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain productive and effective, inclusive working relationships with peers and other studio assistants is extremely vital to the studio culture and expected.

Additional responsibilities may include inventory management, production/maintenance, team administration, and information systems. Close attention to detail, superior management skills, and a dedication to implementing and improving best practices are vital to success in this role.

Our ideal candidate would be someone who is both meticulous and flexible, someone who is comfortable in a creative and casual environment, and who does well working with minimal supervision. She or he absolutely must have an unassailable ability to create and maintain consistency and order within multiple areas of the studio operation.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

The Studio Manager works directly with Studio’s Director in managing the ongoing operations/projects and future planning, including but not limited to:

  • Establish a successful Production Plan.

  • Inventory management of incoming and outgoing artworks, managing supplies for the studio, as well as digitization and data management.

  • Oversee all artwork maintenance and components, including inventory management.

  • Responsible for all artwork documentation and best practices.

  • Supervise and train artwork team to execute all aspects of the Studio while exceeding our quality standards

  • Maintain working conditions of cleaning equipment and tools.

  • Troubleshoot and repair systems as required to maintain efficient operation throughout the venue.

  • Inventory management including but not limited to ordering materials as needed and monitoring costs and deliveries.

  • Adhere to and improve Studio standards and processes

  • Coordinate packing and all aspects of domestic and international shipping.

  • Arrange and implement the loan of artworks from the Studio to museums and galleries.

  • Manage art storage facilities and overseeing all annual service contracts.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate for this position will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in an arts organization (museum, artist studio, or foundation) at the senior management level. An advanced degree in a related field (engineering, design, fine arts) is required.

  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Filemaker, Illustrator, digital scanning, and 3D modeling would be a big plus.

  • Experience with shop maintenance and general tools would be helpful.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must.

  • An interest in contemporary art could be beneficial but is not required.

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and comfortable teaching others frequently

  • Experience leading projects

  • Resourceful and inquisitive with an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Comfortable or open to learning how to operate printers, equipment, among others.

  • Spanish speakers will be a plus.

Relocation Details:

According to this posting, the Art Studio is open to considering relocation expenses and will provide allowance to those outsides of Panama.
