Regular hours are Tuesday-Fridays, 10am-6pm, Saturday, 11am-6pm. Occasionally and for art fairs, extended hours may be required.

Salary + benefits commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

Art handling

  • Packing/unpacking and installation/de-installation of art works

  • Executing condition reports with Registrar

  • Properly storing works and organizing storage

  • In-house crate-building for domestic and international shipments

  • Preparing for viewings, exhibitions, and art fairs

  • Complete an inventory of all artworks annually with Registrar

  • Art fair booth installation and attendance when necessary

  • Possible in-home installation/deliveries for clients

Digital Imaging

  • Photographing of artworks/exhibitions and assisting photographer

  • Editing and resizing digital images using Photoshop and storing on server, archiving of images

  • Prepare and send digital files for print production (correspond with artists on specifications)

Art Fair/Exhibition Models

  • Modeling art fair booths in SketchUp or similar software (for art fairs applications and once accepted), also physically when necessary

Advertising layouts

  • Mock-up pages for digital and print advertising, correspondence with magazine or printing company

Administrative duties

  • Email correspondence: Handle all image requests, contact other galleries and museums regarding installation of loaned works, reach out to artists in preparation for gallery or art fair exhibitions

  • Ordering of packing, shipping, vinyl signs, and installation supplies as needed

  • Updating database when necessary, Artlogic

General maintenance and repairs of gallery

  • Cleaning up after installations and viewings, taking out garbage, patching the walls and painting
Requirements
  • Experience working in gallery, museum, fine art handling company or similar

  • Knowledge of best practices for handling a multitude of fine art mediums

  • Superb packing skills with light carpentry/framing skills

  • Experience installing and deinstalling/packing exhibitions, including patching and painting walls

  • Photoshop proficiency

  • Database experience a plus (Artlogic preferred)

  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, self-starter, dedicated and motivated, a team player with the ability to effectively communicate, great time management skills and punctual
