Los Angeles–based art studio seeks a Painting Assistant to join a small, focused team.
Our practice centers on producing highly detailed, photorealistic oil paintings through a structured, methodical workflow. Assistants will work directly within this system, contributing to technically demanding paintings that require patience, precision, and a deep respect for craft. A training period is built into all new hires to ensure alignment with our process.
Assist in the creation of large-scale and small-scale photorealistic oil paintings following an established, system-driven process.
Execute technical steps with consistency and precision.
Prepare canvases, panels, palettes, and materials according to studio standards.
Mix paints accurately and maintain organized color systems.
Translate photographic reference material into detailed painted studies when needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the studio, tools, and work surfaces throughout the day.
Handle, move, and pack artworks with care.
Follow detailed instructions and maintain quality control across all stages of production.
Track progress on ongoing works and communicate clearly about timing, issues, or material needs.
Support general studio operations, including errands, supply runs, and inventory management.
Requirements
Demonstrated mastery of photorealistic rendering, with strong confidence and control in oil paint.
Portfolio of 5–10 work samples that clearly show the ability to render from photographic sources.
Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Art handling experience preferred, though not required.
Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
