Whitechapel Gallery is looking for an Assistant Curator who will work with a small and busy team on the realisation of projects with artists, lenders and arts institutions. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of exhibitions and commissions, including the organisation of transport and insurance, registrarial duties, and the production of catalogues.
As a member of the exhibitions team, you will contribute ideas to the Gallery’s programme, be essential to the department’s collegiate work environment and liaise with other internal departments and with the professional art world. More than anything, you will be a dedicated, enthusiastic professional with demonstrable knowledge of modern and contemporary art who is looking forward to working together in one of the most dynamic art environments in Europe.
Conditions of work
Contract: Permanent
Salary: c. ÂŁ23,500 to ÂŁ25,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Hours of work: 5 days per week, 9.30am – 5.45pm, plus some weekend and evening work, and occasional travel, which will be compensated by time off in lieu
With a minimum of three years’ experience in contemporary art institutions you will have the ability to work on the delivery of several projects concurrently, including modern and contemporary exhibitions, commissions and displays from UK and international collections.
