Cheryl Numark Art Advisory, a leading art advisory firm based in Washington, DC, provides art consulting services for private, corporate and institutional clients, and sells second market work as a private dealer. CNAA is currently seeking an Assistant to the Director. Ideally, the successful candidate will be based in Washington DC, have a track record of experience working in a commercial fine arts setting, knowledge of contemporary art, proficiency in editing images, excellent writing and organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to pursue a career in the art consulting field.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing client presentations

  • Using Photoshop and/or other photo-editing programs for image editing

  • Using Illustrator and/or Sketchup to create renderings

  • Assisting with technical devices when required. A general tech savviness with Apple computers and basic applications: Gmail, file format conversion (particularly images), iCloud features, Apple device settings, etc. is essential

  • Coordinating shipping of artworks, creating invoices and statement of payments for all sales

  • Assisting the Director with interoffice communication, administrative responsibilities and any other daily tasks as needed

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • BA or MA in Arts Management, Art History, Arts Administration, knowledge of contemporary art

  • Experience with the art world, specifically in a commercial art sales setting

  • Experience assisting in secondary market research and secondary market artwork sales at auction or through the private market

  • Experience researching available artwork for clients through correspondence with galleries, artists and auction houses

  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable experience:

  • Past art gallery and/or art advisory positions

  • Writing of exhibition press releases and bios of artists

  • Business administration

  • Orchestrating marketing campaigns and reaching out to potential clients

  • Diverse range of software proficiency

This position is based out of the Director’s home office in NW DC and requires two - three days (14 - 20 hours of work per week) and schedule of days may be flexible. Hourly salary based on experience.
