Scottsdale Arts seeks full time Assistant Retail Manager to ensure the smooth running of store operations, provides back up for Manager and training/scheduling of staff.

Responsibilities
  • Attracts customers by originating display ideas; following display suggestions or schedules and producing merchandise displays for windows and show floor.

  • Provides oversight for staff and volunteers including participation in interviewing, training, placement, and scheduling. Ensures staff who work in the SMoCA store are trained on the front desk operations including receptionist and concierge duties, performs those duties as needed or scheduled.

  • Develops training program for volunteers and staff, documenting processes and procedures.

  • Maintains up to date Tessitura knowledge, ensuring new functions and updates are integrated into daily processes and that staff are aware of the updates and implement them appropriately.

  • Performs inventory, including development, running and distribution of reports.

  • Performs all duties of a Retail Sales Representative.

  • Responsible for the oversight of deposits, maintenance of the safe and lock box information.

  • Collaborates with other departments, including marketing, education, development and the SCPA to more effectively use visitor data to positively impact patron experience. Collaborates with SMoCA curatorial staff regarding exhibition specific logistics and projects.

  • Develops, implements and trains on FOH duties for SMoCA retail store including daily activities and special events. Provides basic administrative on-site support for events as needed or appropriate.

  • Responsible for compiling store merchandise and supplies lists as needed or scheduled. Anticipates customer demands based on Scottsdale Arts activities, events, and productions.

  • Manages membership sales and tracks member data at SMoCA. May assist the Development Department in their efforts to increase fund raising revenue. Tracks Culture Pass and communicates with Act One regarding their use.

  • In the absence of the Retail Manager, provides functional oversight for both stores. Maintains ongoing awareness of store merchandise and answers questions or concerns from reps and guests.

  • Responsible for ensuring top quality customer service for all stores, modeling appropriate behavior for other representatives and resolving issues as they arise.

  • Performs other duties as required

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education:

  • Associate’s Degree preferred, HS diploma or equivalent required (if no AA degree, additional years of experience may be substituted with Director approval).

2. Experience:

  • 2 year’s retail experience with minimum 1 year experience in supervisory or managerial role.

3. Attributes:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.

  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or costumer concerns.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide all unites o measure and to forecast and interpret data appropriately.

  • Requires the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and assignments.

  • Requires the ability to creatively and calmly problem solve and trouble shoot under pressure, to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to utilize a Point of Sale System effectively.

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

4. Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

  • Occasionally require to walk, to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, to talk or hear.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and required to provide set up and break down for meetings, etc.

  • Exposure to outside elements and must be physically active for long periods of time.

  • Specific vision abilities require close vision, color vision.

5. Other requirements:

  • Position requires valid driver’s license and appropriate driving record

  • Position may require working evening and weekends as needed or assigned.
