James Barron Art is a private Connecticut-based gallery specializing in modern and contemporary art. We conduct private art sales with a global client base and present exhibitions and curated art fair presentations with a focus on in-depth research and art historical context.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly-motivated, organized, and efficient self-starter to oversee administrative duties for the Director, who is based remotely in New Jersey. We operate within a fast-paced, high-pressure, and professional environment with many moving parts, so excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. It is critical for the person in this role to take initiative, learn quickly, solve problems independently, and communicate effectively. Duties include coordinating with the Connecticut office, managing inventory, researching art, organizing shipments, invoicing, filing, managing correspondence, organizing travel, and other administrative tasks.

Requirements

Ideal candidate will have a BA in Art History and 1-3 years experience in a gallery or auction house environment. Familiarity with the art market and experience a plus. Candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer skills including Squarespace, Gallery Manager or similar inventory program, Adobe, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Apple products.

Hours will vary from approximately 20-30 hours per week.
