James Cohan, a contemporary art gallery with two locations in Manhattan is searching for an experienced individual to assist gallery Partner.

As an organization, we pride ourselves on building and maintaining a collegial and friendly working environment that values collaboration across disciplines, with a common purpose of supporting our artists in the many facets of the contemporary art world.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and work closely with artists in Partner’s personal roster including Yinka Shonibare

  • Help manage production spreadsheets, payments, museum loans, exhibition planning and coordinating events for artists etc.

  • Help with all sales responsibilities including maintaining and organizing client, advisor and curator lists

  • Assist with all sales outreach by putting together PDF and Private View presentations and drafting sales outreach

  • Facilitate post-sale process together with registrar

  • Coordinate travel arrangements

  • Assist with email communications

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3-5 years of prior museum or gallery experience strongly recommended

  • Familiarity and fluency with Artlogic or similar gallery management databases

  • Extensive PC literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail & Photoshop

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Self-starter who is able to multi-task and identify projects that are in need of immediate attention versus long term projects

  • Excellent communication skills, able to work with wide variety of people, and an understanding of the fast and fluctuating pace of the contemporary art gallery.

Full time Mon-Fri 10-6:00 with some Saturday’s during art fairs and exhibition openings

Salary (with benefits) is commensurate with experience.
