Monday – Friday (Part-time, non-exempt, temporary)

David Kordansky Gallery seeks a highly motivated, extremely organized, and team-oriented individual to fill the position of Assistant to the Managing Director. The Assistant to the Managing Director is responsible for supporting the Managing Director in a wide range of general administrative tasks related to an ongoing gallery expansion and construction project as well as the human resources management of approximately thirty-five employees. This position is a part-time, limited-term role (3 to 4 days per week for up to four months), and may require flexibility for additional hours based on the needs of the gallery.



  • Take notes during weekly construction meetings and follow up on to-do list items

  • Research, order, and purchase supplies related to the construction project

  • Assist with calendars and scheduling

  • Follow up with tasks related to employee onboarding and performance reviews

  • Input timesheet corrections, record time off requests, and generate reports

  • Draft memos and protocols related to office administration and interdepartmental workflow

  • Run errands as needed



  • Some knowledge of contemporary art required; experience working at a contemporary art gallery or museum preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in studio art, art history, or related field preferred

  • At least two (2) years of professional experience as an office administrator, executive assistant, gallery manager, or related position required; some experience in human resources management preferred

  • Advanced computer and technological skills in a Mac-based environment required, including: G Suite; Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat)

  • Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills

  • Enjoys project management; can complete tasks with persistence, patience, and discretion

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator

  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Extremely self-motivated, responsible, and efficient

  • Fluent in English
