Bookkeeper
Artist Studio
A fast paced studio for an established artist seeks an individual to take on the role of Bookkeeper. They must be able to prioritize and complete work efficiently and with great attention to detail within established studio systems. As Bookkeeper, this position will oversee and direct all financials of the studio operations, while keeping the Director of Operations, Manager of Operations, and Artist updated through regular reporting.
Annually
Maintain annual calendar of important financial dates
File annual sales and use tax returns
Maintain and pay all local taxes including the property taxes, city business license
Monthly
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts in QuickBooks
Update and maintain studio budgets
Oversee business bank accounts and cash flow
Weekly
Process employee reimbursements, bills
Code all expenses and payroll in Quickbooks
Biweekly
- Run payroll and associated taxes
Quarterly
Generate P&L, Balance, Account Receivable reports and budget forecasts
Pay taxes to IRS and CA FTB for both personal and business as advised by CPA
Ongoing
Work with galleries regarding accounts receivable - sales, payments, projections
Work with the Principal regarding operation expense budgets, investment and savings goals as they pertain to the principal’s various business and personal endeavors
Generate artwork production cost reports
Maintain complete and accurate digital / paper filing of financial data
Work with CPA to provide accurate and timely financial information for annual taxes including processing W2s and 1099s
Desired Qualifications:
5+ years of bookkeeping experience in an art studio, art gallery, or related industry
Familiarity with the art world and sensitivities required to work around artworks
Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality
Financial acumen, ability to synthesize financial data accurately
Proven proficiency in technology including Microsoft Office and Google Drive, Quickbooks and additional Intuit products, Bill.com
Current Driver’s License and reliable transportation
Ability to legally work in the US

Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with experience
30 hours a week is full-time
Reports directly to Director of Operations
Schedule is typically 4 days a week, studio hours are 8am - 7pm
Due to the nature of this role, all work required of this position is in-person
