Busy artist’s studio is seeking an experienced bookkeeper to manage the day to day financial operations, which includes both personal and business accounts.

The bookkeeper will report directly to the principle and work with senior staff and outside colleagues to manage and oversee multiple accounts, reconcile bank and credit card transactions, prepare and submit payroll, track accounts payable and accounts receivable, track income and expenses, help with project and organizational budgeting, handle filing, and prepare other relevant reports.

The ideal candidate should have experience developing and implementing internal controls and financial workflow processes. Must also have excellent organizational skills, must be analytical, a natural problem solver, who works well under pressure, and is meticulously detailed.

Ability to work on tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism. Must be a strong and clear communicator in both verbal and written form. Previous bookkeeping experience in art studios, galleries, or museums is a huge plus.

Full-time, Monday – Friday, 9am to 6pm

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Manage several companies in QuickBooks. Identify, present, and record accounting transactions

  • Prepare financials, reports, tax filings, audits, etc. in an accurate, professional, and timely manner

  • Oversee 20+ people payroll on a bi-weekly basis

  • Track various construction costs and budgets. Identify differences

  • Pay A/P, reconcile A/R, and items on consignment

  • Manage several insurance policies, both personal and commercial

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years accounting or bookkeeping experience

  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns. Generate 1099’s and W-2’s

  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements of processing sales tax returns, business licenses and business property taxes, multi-state a plus

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite required

  • Extensive Knowledge of QuickBooks software required.

  • Must have experience handling multiple sets of books
