The Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College of Art and Design is transforming the historic Sarasota High School into a state-of-the-art destination, with the art museum as its anchor project. The Museum, a contemporary kunsthalle, will be a dynamic center for exhibiting innovative and compelling visual art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. A vital part of Sarasota’s rich cultural landscape, the Museum will interweave exhibitions, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives to engage a diverse audience and to serve as a destination for creative discovery and discourse. The Museum is seeking a Membership Manager who will be responsible for implementing the newly developed membership programs at The Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for strategy and management of membership recruitment and renewal efforts, bringing new members and visitors to the museum, diversifying the membership base, reporting, analysis, and overall data management—all aimed at increasing membership and revenue and delivering a world-class experience for the Museum’s members. 

Reporting to the Director of Visitor Experience and working closely with the Executive Director and the Deputy Director, Operations, the Membership Manager will have a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of art museum membership, direct marketing, customer service and membership cultivation and a comprehensive understanding of how the membership program is developed in partnership with public engagement/education and curatorial teams.

The Manager will work closely with Curatorial, Education, Retail and catering contractor staff, in partnership with the Director of Visitor Experience and the Deputy Director, Operations, to ensure seamless integration of various membership programs and related events with other Museum activities.

The successful incumbent will have exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy; proven track record of organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word. Occasional evenings and weekend work required.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

B.A. or equivalent experience.

Two years of Art Museum Membership program experience.

Knowledge of best practices and professional standards in museums as outlined by the AAM.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience utilizing PatronManager.

Experience in a leadership position over a membership program at an art museum.
