Responsible for the documentation, maintenance, transportation and exhibition of the museum’s art collection and loans.
Responsible for the documentation, maintenance, transportation and exhibition of the museum’s art collection and loans.
Maintains and updates all records pertinent to the museum’s collections, including loans, condition, location, exhibition and publication records, and insurance values.
Administers collection database and provides museums staff with database access and support.
Plans, coordinates, and directs collection maintenance by making recommendations for conversations and implements preventative conservation practices.
Oversees care and maintenance of galleries and storage ideas.
Coordinates the movement of art to and from exhibitions, including making arrangements for transportation.
Ensures artwork entering and leaving the museum is properly appraised and adequately insured.
Assists in development and revision of overall collections policies.
Trains collections personnel and volunteers. Responds to inquiries regarding collection and assists with scholarly access to collections, to include supervising visitors and volunteers in collections rooms.
Periodically liaises with donors when gifts are made and/or to facilitate long-term loans of art.
Keep current with AAM Best Practices and with international, national, and state laws concerning museum procedure and collections management.
Works with curators and other staff in the production of exhibition labels.
Works with the preparation staff in the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions.
Conducts periodic collections inventory.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:
24 - 36 months museum experience

Knowledge of current museum registration practices.
Knowledge in the area of art handling and installation.
Certifications:
Valid driver’s license to drive university vehicles
Advertised Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift heavy objects, climb, push, reach, stand, engage in repetitive motions, grasp, walk, feel, touch, communicate, hear and see, including color, depth perception and clarity.
Departmental Preferences:
MA in art, art history or related field.
Experience working with museum computer databases (FileMakerPro).
Five years experience in museum registration department.
Supervision: 1-3 Staff
